Product & Treatment

Lips & wrinkles

Dermal (or skin) fillers are substances which can be injected into the skin to soften lines and wrinkles or to create fuller lips. Dynamic lines around the eyes and frown areas may be more suited to treatment with a muscle relaxant injection.

What are fillers and what are they used for?
Dermal or sub-dermal fillers are substances which can be injected into or under the skin for a variety of effects.

Lips

As we age, lips tend to thin, and the injection of even small volumes will create a fuller effect. Filler may be injected to improve definition, increase fullness, or to reduce lines and wrinkles.

Lines
Many lines around the face area will improve with injection of fillers directly under the line, but often further treatment is necessary in order to strengthen the structural supports of the skin around the line. A muscle relaxant injection may be beneficial in terms of further line prevention and also to improve longevity of the filler. Lines especially around the mouth are often injected – bilabial lines, the marionettes and the chin crease. The tear trough is very successfully injected and has the effect of making the face look less tired.

Cheeks
Restoration of lost volume in the cheeks is easily achieved, relieving hollowness or gauntness and returning the cheeks to a natural youthful plumpness.

What fillers are used at Laser Skin Care?

We use Hyaluronic Acid which is a non animal product which means that the likelihood of allergy is exceedingly rare and pretesting is unnecessary. It has a longevity which varies from 6 to 12 months. It is gradually reabsorbed.

What is involved in treatment?
For the injection of lines or wrinkles, treatment involves some discomfort, and an anaesthetic cream may be applied an hour beforehand. With regards to the treatment of the lips, local anaesthetic injection may be undergone at this stage.

What are their side effects?
Side effects include:
  • Local swelling
  • Redness
  • Bruising
  • Lumpiness or irregularity of the filler
  • Granuloma (long-term nodules), allergy, infection and ischaemia (rare)

This procedure is not recommended for:
  • Pregnant or breast feeding women
  • Patient who have Roaccutane in the last 3 months.
  • Those with a medical history of auto-immune type diseases (lupus or rheumatoid arthritis) or multiple allergies.

V-beam laser

Perfecta can do it all: from rejuvenation by correcting red and brown skin discolouration, to eliminating virtually all vascular and pigmented lesions. The Perfecta features advanced micro-pulse technology, multiple hand pieces for treating various spot sizes, and our patented Dynamic Cooling Device TM (DCDTM) cooling system, which all but eliminates patient downtime by preventing Purana, or bruising. And like all Candela products, Perfecta is backed by Candela’s unmatched training, marketing and service support.

IPL

IPL stands for intense Pulsed Light – a method of treatment where a short but very powerful flash of colored light is directed at the skin. The light appears colored because it is filtered to remove certain wavelengths. The wavelengths removed are those which are very likely to cause complications. The wavelengths which are allowed through are carefully chosen to meet the needs of the treatment and may be changed through the use of filters depending on the condition to be treated. The Danish Ellipse Flex is dual filtered, which means that unwanted wavelengths at both ends of the light spectrum are filtered out. The Ellipse Flex is a doctor’s only IPL system which experienced IPL users find to be the most powerful and flexible IPL unit on the market today.

Medlite c6 laser

The Medlite C6 Q-Switched Nd: YAG laser is the most up-to-date and flexible pigment laser available on the market today. The Medlite C6 is manufactured in the USA to exacting standards, and produces a flat-topped beam for reliable results with an excellent safety profile.

The choice of 1064nm and 532nm laser wavelengths, and optional dye hand pieces at 585nm and 650nm, provides flexibility in treating pigment of many types including sunspots, lentigines, flat seborrhoeic keratoses, and many types of birthmarks (types treated include Café au Lait spots, naevus of Ota). Tattoo treatment successfully removes tattoo over a course of treatment. Different tattoo colors are targeted by the range of laser wavelengths. Green tattoo pigment though, can be resistant to laser treatment.
